Position Summary

The Sr. Financial Analyst analyzes and interprets financial data to advise and support strategic decision making and achieve business objectives. This position supports the company's financial planning, forecasting, management reporting and strategic decision-making processes by partnering with operational and functional leaders to analyze financial and operational performance. They ensure all financial reporting, operations, and transactions maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory financial policies, standards, and controls.

Essential Functions

Financial planning and forecasting
  • Support the annual budget, periodic forecasting and long-range strategic-planning processes.
  • Assist in maintaining financial models and forecast schedules covering revenue, margin, operating expenses, headcount, capital expenditures and working capital.
  • Perform scenario and sensitivity analysis to support operational and strategic decisions.

Management reporting and performance analysis
  • Assist in preparing monthly management reporting packages.
  • Analyze business performance and clearly explain the operational drivers behind financial results.
  • Translate financial data into concise findings.
  • Improve forecast accuracy and reporting usefulness through continuous review of assumptions, drivers and processes.

Manufacturing finance and margin analysis
  • Analyze purchase-price, material-usage, labor, overhead, productivity and yield variances.
  • Support the annual standard-cost roll and ongoing evaluation of standard versus actual costs.
  • Analyze inventory valuation, inventory reserves and inventory roll-forwards in partnership with Accounting and Operations.
  • Support cycle counts and physical-inventory activities.
  • Perform product, customer and channel profitability analysis.
  • Support make-versus-buy sourcing, pricing, cost-reduction and margin-expansion initiatives.
  • Partner with Operations, Purchasing and Engineering to understand performance drivers and recommend corrective actions.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
  • 4-6 years of progressive financial analysis, FP&A, manufacturing finance or related experience.
  • Manufacturing or cost-accounting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and monthly performance reporting.
  • Financial-modeling and intermediate Excel capabilities.
  • Experience with ERP, financial-planning, consolidation or business-intelligence tools.
  • Power BI, SQL or similar data-analysis experience preferred.
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational data and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and constructively challenge business assumptions.

Physical Requirements
  • Routinely sit, sometimes for extended periods, and perform work using a computer.
  • Frequently sit, stand and/or walk.
  • Occasionally stoop, bend, reach, push or pull.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • Occasionally spend time in the manufacturing environment to complete assigned projects (assist with inventory, verification of cycle counts, etc.) At such times, a greater amount of physical exertion, standing and walking would be required.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
