Position Overview

Kiewit's largest projects employ thousands of people, span multiple years, and represent billions of dollars in construction value.

We are seeking a Sr Field HR Manager to serve as the onsite HR leader for one of North America's largest and most complex construction projects.

As a key member of the project leadership team, you will help build, develop, and sustain the workforce required to safely and successfully execute a mega-project. Working directly with Project Directors, Construction Managers, Superintendents, Safety leaders, and field teams, you will help navigate the workforce challenges that come with rapid growth, workforce mobility, leadership development, culture, retention, and organizational effectiveness.

Our mega-projects may employ more than 10,000 workers across Kiewit, trade partners, and suppliers, creating workforce challenges and opportunities few companies will ever experience. This is more than a traditional HR role. It is an opportunity to influence project performance through people, leadership, culture, and workforce strategy while helping shape the future of mega-project execution at Kiewit.

HR Operations is an integral partner and service provider at Kiewit. In recent years, we have gone from decentralized HR groups to a unified, shared service team, with various HR Centers of Excellence. Our vision is to be a best-in-class international HR organization.

Location

Our culture is built on opportunity. We go where the work is, giving employees the chance to work on some of the most challenging and rewarding projects in North America. This position is currently based in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Relocation assistance or per diem/travel allowance may be available based on project and business needs. Future mobility beyond the completion of this project is preferred. This is a full time role on a construction site.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior HR leader and trusted advisor to project leadership.
  • Partner with project teams to build and sustain the workforce required to execute large-scale construction projects.
  • Support workforce planning, staffing strategy, mobilization, onboarding, integration, and retention efforts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Help project leaders anticipate and address workforce risks that could impact project execution.
  • Coach supervisors and managers to strengthen leadership capability, team effectiveness, and employee engagement.
  • Lead complex employee relations matters, investigations, conflict resolution, and performance management efforts.
  • Reinforce Kiewit's culture, values, standards, and expectations across a rapidly growing workforce.
  • Support workforce communication, engagement, and employee experience initiatives.
  • Monitor workforce trends and organizational health indicators to identify emerging challenges and opportunities.
  • Partner with recruiting, safety, training, payroll, operations, and district leadership teams to ensure alignment and execution.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, employment laws, and project requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts that strengthen Kiewit's ability to execute future mega-projects.


Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience supporting construction, industrial, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, or other operational environments.
  • Demonstrated success supporting large and complex workforces in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace investigation experience.
  • Proven ability to influence leaders and build credibility across all levels of an organization.
  • Experience coaching operational leaders and supporting organizational effectiveness.
  • Strong communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing business and project needs.
  • Working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Professional HR certification preferred.
  • Willingness to travel and relocate based on business needs #LI-AK1
