SR. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY ENGINEER
As part of a small, hardworking team of technicians and engineers, you will provide technical engineering expertise to support operations at the Rocket Development & Test Site. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who works well in a fast-paced environment, applying core engineering principles to identify, assess, and mitigate risks. We work as a highly integrated team and job responsibilities will include supporting other programs to ensure the overall success of SpaceX.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Apply engineering analysis and design principles to evaluate facilities, processes, machinery, and equipment for potential hazards; develop and implement engineered controls (e.g., machine guarding, ventilation, structural/safety systems)
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on job hazard assessments, design reviews, and implementation of policies/procedures
Perform inspections, audits, and engineering evaluations of facilities, machinery, and equipment to identify issues and recommend corrective/preventive measures
Investigate incidents, accidents, or process issues using root-cause analysis techniques; develop and track engineering-based corrective actions
Support development of contingency/emergency plans and operational procedures
Provide engineering guidance to internal customers on design-for-safety, process improvements, and compliance with applicable standards
Monitor and analyze operational data (e.g., exposures, discharges, or process parameters) and recommend engineering solutions
Maintain documentation, records, and reports as required for operational and regulatory needs
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree
5+ years of experience in engineering design, development, analysis, operations, or manufacturing (aerospace, industrial, or similar high-reliability environment preferred)
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Aerospace, or related field)
Experience applying engineering principles to occupational safety, environmental, or process safety programs
Familiarity with structural design, safety systems, machine guarding, industrial hygiene, or construction/operational safety
Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (OSHA, NFPA, EPA, or equivalent) and ability to interpret/apply them in an engineering context
Experience with storm water, waste management, permitting, or similar operational compliance
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering tools (e.g., CAD, analysis software)
Experience with emergency response or incident management
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the McGregor, Texas area
Position occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed
