Summary:
The Sr Environmental Engineer administers the plant environmental program following federal and state environmental laws and regulations.
What you'll be contributing: - Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Participates in environmental projects/issues and liaises with regulatory agencies and inspectors during inspections.
- Coordinates with other departments to ensure compliance with all environmental permits and all applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
- Completes, administers, and assists in preparing various environmental reports, renewals, questionnaires, and surveys.
- Communicates with regulatory agencies by providing information and assistance
- Completes, administers, and assists in preparing various environmental reports, renewals, questionnaires, and surveys.
- Obtains samples and data necessary for completing discharge monitoring reports.
- Reviews emissions data and coordinates with production and maintenance teams to ensure continuous compliance with limits.
- Coordinates stack testing, including the development of scope, evaluation of proposals, and on-site management of contractors.
- Performs audits of the data acquisition system and compliance management systems and recommends updates and changes.
- Coordinates compliance with Corporate Environmental Policy and International Standard Development Organization (ISO) 14001 Certification
- Provides and coordinates training for plant teams on their assigned compliance tasks.
- Assists in advancing the company's sustainability goals with respect to water and waste reduction and biodiversity protection.
- Reviews Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), ensuring compliance with permits and regulatory requirements.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
To succeed in this position, you will need: - Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Minimum of 4 year/Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other technically related fields
- Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental field, in cement, mining or related industries, and working with regulatory agencies.
- Proficient in English written, verbal communication, and listening skills
- Proficient in problem-solving skills
- Ability to make decisions and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at a conclusion
- Ability to perform, organize and prioritize work independently
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations
- Knowledge of environmental programs, policies, and practices applicable to a cement manufacturing environment
- Ability to use a personal computer
- Ability to promote a positive environmental image of the plant in the community
- Ability to work with general policies and objectives
- Ability to refer to Environmental and/or Plant Manager when clarification or interpretation of organization policy
