Full Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, and support dealer-facing applications that power critical business interactions and digital experiences. This role will contribute to secure, scalable, and high-performing platforms across front-end, back-end, APIs, and cloud infrastructure, with a strong focus on usability, reliability, integration, maintainability, and production excellence.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will partner with product, architecture, business, and engineering teams to translate requirements into high-quality technical solutions, participate in release and production support activities, and help continuously improve dealer experience and platform stability. You will also contribute to engineering standards, perform code reviews, and support a culture of collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement.
At this time, Ally will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
The Work Itself
• Full-Stack Engineering. Design, develop, test, and support full-stack capabilities across front-end, back-end, APIs, data, and cloud infrastructure for dealer-facing applications, with a focus on usability, performance, resiliency, security, and maintainability.
• Backend Engineering. Build secure, performant REST APIs and microservices using Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript; apply sound API design, asynchronous processing, error handling, enterprise integration patterns, and relational database practices using platforms such as Postgres or Oracle.
• AWS Backend Stack. Develop and support cloud-native solutions using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, S3, and CloudFront; use Terraform, IAM, Secrets Manager, Parameter Store, and CloudWatch to support secure configuration, repeatable provisioning, monitoring, alerting, and production observability.
• Frontend Engineering. Build performant, responsive, and accessible dealer-facing user interfaces using React.js, Next.js, TypeScript, and modern CSS practices; integrate APIs and apply usability-focused implementation, DevOps practices, and AWS deployment patterns.
• Frontend Architecture. Contribute to micro frontend architecture, module federation, reusable component design, and client/server state management using tools such as React Query, Redux, or Zustand.
Architecture, Delivery & Operations
• Collaborate with architects, product partners, and cross-functional teams to define technical approaches, integration patterns, and scalable solution components that improve dealer workflows and experience.
• Translate business and dealer workflow requirements into technical designs, implementation tasks, and high-quality application changes.
• Support release management activities for dealer-facing applications, including deployment readiness, dependency coordination, production validation, rollback planning, and post-release support.
• Identify technical risks related to scalability, security, production stability, and dealer impact, and recommend practical mitigation options.
• Participate in sprint planning, technical estimation, dependency management, support prioritization, and delivery commitments with clear ownership of assigned engineering work.
• Partner with product, architecture, and development team members to clarify scope, resolve dependencies, and deliver reliable solutions.
• Work directly with product owners to ensure stories contain appropriate technical direction, acceptance criteria, and implementation detail.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Operations teams to support environment readiness, deployment activities, and production stability.
• Drive continuous improvement through code reviews, documentation, troubleshooting, knowledge sharing, and collaboration with peers.
• Create and maintain high-quality deliverables that meet performance, security, testability, and maintainability expectations.
• Communicate effectively with product partners, architecture, engineering peers, support teams, and leadership as needed.
• Provide technical guidance to peers and help promote consistent engineering practices across the team.
