This is a newly created role with two distinct phases of work. First, is the design and rollout of a global payroll and time operating model including but not limited to: selecting and implementing a global time and attendance platform and a global payroll aggregator, consolidating the multiple existing provider relationships, building the retained organization, and migrating twenty countries in waves. Second, the incumbent runs that operation on an ongoing basis, owning payroll delivery, statutory compliance, controls and vendor performance for all worldwide employees

The role reports to the Vice President, Corporate Controller within the Chief Accounting Officer organization rolling up within the Finance and Controllership organization. Payroll is among the largest expense lines the company manages; it posts directly to the general ledger, and it carries SOX controls, statutory filings and audit exposure that belong to Controllership.

What you'll do

Phase One - Design, Build and Deploy

The initial phase of the role is solution confirmation and development of a detailed business case and implementation plan including the following:
  • Translate the approved model into a detailed design covering process, platform, vendor network, organization and controls.
  • Development of global payroll policies and governance
  • Lead vendor selection and contracting for the global time and attendance platform, the global payroll aggregator, and the in-country processors including evaluation, negotiation, and service levels,
  • Own the platform, integration and data. data standardization and cleansing
  • Sequence and execute migration in a phased approach
  • Design and recruit the retained organization.

  • Maintain segregation of duties across Lam and the vendor network,
  • Statutory filing, remittance and year-end processing worldwide, with the supporting audit evidence.
  • Own payroll data privacy across all applicable jurisdictions

  • Demonstrated ownership of SOX controls over payroll and direct experience with internal and external audit.
  • Substantial vendor management experience: competitive tendering, commercial negotiation, service-level design and holding providers to account on performance.
  • Evidence of building and leading distributed teams across time zones.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field.

  • CPP, CPA, MBA or an equivalent professional qualification.

Capabilities and Attributes

  • Influence and collaboration. Many of the key stakeholders for this role sit outside its direct reporting line, spanning Human Resources, Legal, Tax, Treasury, Information Technology and Regional Finance. Success depends on building durable working relationships across those functions and reaching shared decisions rather than relying on positional authority.
  • Judgment on standardization. The model permits exceptions only for statute or scale. The incumbent must apply that principle consistently while recognizing genuine statutory constraints where they exist.
  • Operating discipline under a fixed deadline. The role must run a multi-year build program without ever compromising a live pay cycle.
