This is a high-impact, individual contributor role requiring deep subject matter expertise in grocery retail design, E-Commerce operational integration, and cross-functional program ownership at scale.

This is an exciting, fast-moving role for a design leader who operates at the intersection of design execution and program leadership. You are the right person for this job if you are a highly independent, detail-oriented design professional who thrives in ambiguity, produces designs that satisfy conflicting interests with a high bar for quality, and can drive alignment across multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.

In this role, you will own the end-to-end design and program coordination for E-Commerce workstreams including but not limited to: E-Commerce Hubs, E-Commerce Metro Optimization, Amazon Counter, and Dash Carts. You will serve as the single-threaded owner and primary point of contact for each business owner, tracking deliverables, managing timelines, and ensuring designs meet strict launch deadlines. You will define the standards and processes to optimize E-Commerce design in retail stores and ensure scalability across the fleet. As the program lead, you will influence decisions across Operations, Technology, Construction, and Procurement.

The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver with strong program management instincts, deep E-Commerce fluency, and the ability to build scalable design systems that work across a high-volume, multi-workstream portfolio.

Key job responsibilities

- E-Commerce Workstream Ownership: Own and drive the full portfolio of E-Commerce design workstreams, serving as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for business owners.

- Design Execution: Produce design deliverables independently while simultaneously managing the output of others to meet strict launch deadlines.

- Tracking and Reporting: Track and report on the status of all active workstreams, proactively identifying risks, dependencies, and blockers to leadership.

- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with Operations, Technology, Construction, Procurement, Real Estate, Topology Planning, and senior leadership to align design solutions with business objectives.

- Design Standards and Toolkits: Develop and maintain design standards, templates, and best practices for E-Commerce integration across the grocery store network, enabling consistent and repeatable solutions at scale.

- Program Management: Manage the design process end-to-end, interfacing with internal and external design partners to ensure quality and consistency across all workstreams.

- Site-Specific Adaptation: Adapt site-specific conditions, metrics, and standards to store designs while balancing competing operational, customer experience, and cost requirements.

- Scope Development: Build data-driven scopes of work with internal stakeholders focused on enabling E-Commerce operations within existing and new store environments.

- Design Packages: Create design packages (2/5 page sets) to communicate design intent and program status with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

- Design Phases: Drive Schematic Design and Design Development packages through all phases of design, permitting, and construction administration.

- Budget and Schedule: Coordinate with Construction, Procurement, and Operations on budget, schedule, and value engineering.

- Consultant Management: Manage consultants and external partners throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.

- Construction Administration: Provide CA support as needed, including review and approval of submittals and shop drawings.

- Process Improvement: Develop mechanisms to improve efficiency, reduce ambiguity, and scale E-Commerce design delivery across the network.

You will regularly interface with store operations leaders to ground design decisions in real store context, partner with procurement on equipment specifications, and advance process improvements that help the team scale.
