POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for identifying, interpreting, and driving compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and market-access requirements affecting Landscape Structures' products, packaging, and materials across domestic and international markets. This role combines regulatory analysis, cross-functional leadership, and technical compliance expertise to identify applicable requirements, assess business impacts, and drive implementation of compliant solutions. Areas of responsibility may include materials regulations, product stewardship requirements, packaging regulations, producer responsibility programs, product safety regulations, and other emerging compliance obligations affecting LSI's products and markets. This role will also extend into compliance pertaining to playground, splash pad, and shade equipment standards (e.g., ASTM, CPSC).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitoring, Interpreting, and Managing Regulatory Compliance Requirements
- In an environment of rapidly expanding regulatory requirements, this role will monitor and interpret applicability of laws. regulations, and market-access requirements at the federal level (e.g., CPSIA), state level (e.g., PFAS restrictions, EPR/packaging laws, BABAA), and international level (e.g., REACH) affecting Landscape Structures' products, packaging, materials, and associated business operations.
- Maintain a current, organized view of which materials regulations apply to which products, materials, and jurisdictions - and proactively communicate requirements to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate with other departments and teams to evaluate the potential impact of emerging regulatory developments with a focus on strategic positioning to reduce risk and ensure efficient operations.
Project Leadership
- Drive materials compliance projects end-to-end: define scope, sequence work, coordinate with internal stakeholders (including Engineering, Procurement, and Legal teams), and track to completion.
- In collaboration with internal stakeholders, establish priorities for enterprise compliance initiatives by balancing regulatory risk, business needs, resource requirements, and implementation timelines, while supporting efficient and uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
- Develop and oversee implementation plans, milestones, and deliverables for compliance initiatives.
Supplier & Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with external suppliers, service providers, regulatory agencies, industry organizations, and other stakeholders to obtain information, declarations, certifications, registrations, and supporting documentation necessary to achieve compliance.
- Partner with Landscape Structures' Product Development team to evaluate substitute materials or design changes needed to meet new or evolving materials requirements.
- Advise on systems and documentation approaches to aid in ongoing compliance activities.
- Coordinate responses to customer inquiries or requests pertaining to materials compliance matters.
Communication & Reporting
- Serve as the internal point of contact for materials compliance questions across Sales, Procurement, Operations, Engineering, and Leadership.
- Report status, risk, and business impacts to leadership on a regular cadence.
Equipment Standards Awareness
- Build working familiarity with playground/recreational equipment standards (e.g., ASTM F1487-25, CPSC guidelines, CSA, GPSR) and applicable jurisdiction-specific equipment laws.
- Support equipment compliance efforts, with materials work taking precedence in the short term.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in materials science, chemistry, environmental science, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3-5+ years in regulatory compliance or materials management, ideally in manufacturing or consumer products
- Working knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and interpret, regulatory requirements affecting products, packaging, materials, producer responsibility obligations, and market access.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage multi-stakeholder projects and competing deadlines
- Strong written communication for technical documentation and executive summaries
- Highly self-directed and proactive, with the ability to anticipate compliance risks, develop solutions, and execute against objectives without the need for continuous direction.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and drive enterprise initiatives through collaboration, consensus-building, and effective stakeholder engagement.
- Familiarity with playground/recreational equipment standards (ASTM, CPSC) is preferred but not required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Primary duties are performed seated at a desk or workstation
- Frequent use of computers, keyboards, and mouse
- Repetitive hand and finger movements for typing and using a computer mouse.

The starting target salary range is $85,000 - $105,000, depending upon qualifications and experience. The posted pay range reflects the expected compensation for a fully qualified candidate. Starting pay may be above or below this range based on job-related factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and training needs.
In addition to base salary, the compensation package also includes eligibility for a profit-sharing opportunity.
