You Will Contribute to Our Team By:- Owning long-term fundamental power market forecasts (energy, capacity, ancillary services, and environmental products) for assigned regions.
- Reviewing, developing, and defending key market assumptions including supply, demand, fuel prices, emissions pricing, policy impacts, and cost of new entry (CONE).
- Leading asset-level gross margin projections, dispatch modeling, and financial proformas to support budgeting, long-term planning, and project valuations.
- Supporting business development and expansion initiatives by delivering price forecasts, dispatch analysis, and due diligence assessments for new investments.
- Providing strategic market insights to Commercial and Supply & Trading teams to support origination, hedging, and contracting strategies.
- Managing external consultants, including scope definition, assumption review, quality control, and interpretation of results.
- Preparing and delivering presentations and briefings to cross-functional teams, senior management and executive teams on market outlooks, risks, and opportunities.
- Monitoring regulatory, policy, and market design developments, assessing their commercial, financial impacts and incorporating their implications into price projections.
- Designing and implementing market dashboards for consumption across the company.
- American power markets. The Senior Specialist leads modeling efforts, directs consultant/internal work, and delivers clear, decision-ready recommendations to senior leadership.
Education and Experience - Degree in Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Commerce.
- Master's degree or professional designation (or progress toward one) is an asset.
- 5+ years of experience in North American power and gas markets.
- Demonstrated experience forecasting wholesale electricity prices and asset revenues.
- Previous Experience in ISO's (Independent System Operators) would be a strong asset (e.g. MISO, PJM, ISONE, IESO, NYISO)
- Proven ability to translate complex market dynamics into actionable business recommendations.
Technical & Professional Skills- Advanced quantitative and financial modeling skills (CONE, LCOE, dispatch, gross margin).
- Strong understanding of power market structures and regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and exercise sound judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations.
- Proficiency in Excel, Python and data analysis tools; exposure to market models is an asset.
