Full Job Description
About the Role

McKesson is seeking a Senior AI-First Full Stack Engineer to build the next generation of intelligent healthcare technology solutions supporting one of the nation's leading and fastest-growing specialty pharmacy organizations. This role combines strong full stack engineering with Generative AI innovation to deliver production-grade applications powered by modern web technologies, REST APIs, cloud-native platforms, enterprise data and integrations, Large Language Models (LLMs), and AI agents in a fast-paced healthcare environment where technology directly impacts patient, provider, and business outcomes.

The engineer will work across the entire software lifecycle, from business discovery, system design, and full stack application development through testing, cloud deployment, production support, and measurable adoption. The role requires a hands-on builder with strong front-end, back-end, API, data, integration, and cloud engineering fundamentals who can apply AI as an additional capability and engineering accelerator. The engineer must translate ambiguous business problems into practical solutions, collaborate directly with stakeholders, and establish standards for secure, reliable, and scalable delivery across specialty pharmacy, patient engagement, provider solutions, and operational platforms.

Our team supports fast-paced specialty pharmacy operations, patient engagement, provider services, and business-critical healthcare workflows where speed, reliability, scalability, and innovation directly contribute to patient outcomes and business growth. Success in this role comes from partnering closely with the business to rapidly validate solutions, transform prototypes into scalable production capabilities, and maintain accountability for adoption, reliability, and outcomes.

What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications using Claude (Anthropic), Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, and Azure AI Services.
  • Partner directly with business stakeholders to define problems, validate workflows, rapidly prototype solutions, and convert successful concepts into production capabilities.
  • Build RAG solutions, prompt frameworks, AI workflows, and autonomous or agentic systems with human-in-the-loop controls.
  • Develop full stack applications using React, TypeScript, Python, C#, Java, Node.js, and .NET.
  • Design REST APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Integrate AI capabilities with ServiceNow, Salesforce, Snowflake, Databricks, Power BI, and other enterprise platforms.
  • Develop cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure using secure engineering and DevOps practices.
  • Build CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, containerized workloads, and Kubernetes deployments.
  • Serve as technical owner for assigned applications or platforms, establishing architecture standards, engineering guardrails, SLOs, and production-readiness criteria.
  • Lead modernization, technical debt reduction, resiliency improvements, design reviews, incident resolution, and root-cause prevention.
  • Mentor engineers and influence architecture, security, data, product, and delivery decisions across teams.

Basic Requirements

  • Experience developing modern front-end applications using React and TypeScript.
  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs, microservices, and enterprise integrations.
  • Experience developing cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with CI/CD, source control, automated testing, SDLC, and Agile practices.
  • Experience acting as a technical lead or primary owner for an enterprise application, service, or platform.
  • Experience designing scalable architectures, documenting trade-offs, and supporting production systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous business needs into delivered technical solutions.
