Description About the Role MyEyeDr is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, experience with lease accounting and lease management systems, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. This position plays a key role in supporting month-end close, audit activities, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives that contribute to the accuracy and integrity of MyEyeDr.'s financial statements.
The ideal candidate is a highly analytical and strategic thinker with a strong background in merchandise planning, demand forecasting, and retail analytics. This individual will lead planning processes, provide actionable business insights, influence cross-functional decision-making, and identify opportunities to improve inventory performance and operational efficiency across the organization.
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, this is a hybrid remote role, offering a flexible work arrangement out of our Vienna, VA office, with an in-office requirement of two days per week.
The hiring range for this position is $82,500 to $95,000 annually, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary), based on experience and proximity to the Vienna Home Office.
You Will - Be responsible for month-end close activities including preparation and review of lease accounting journal entries
- Prepare and review of balance sheet reconciliations and expense variances
- Create and update all ProLease lease capitalization and roll-forward schedules
- Ensure that lease accounting for more than 1,000 active leases is in compliance with ASC 842
- Preparation and review of PBC schedules and selections for the external financial statement audits
- Preparation of quantitative lease data for financial statement footnote disclosures and corporate budgeting/forecasting processes
- Ensure timeliness of the month end close process and completeness and accuracy of accounting records in accordance with US GAAP
- Maintain complex Excel spreadsheets and record monthly lease journal entries using advanced Microsoft Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF, nested formulas, etc.) to calculate right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, interest expense, and amortization schedules for the monthly close process
- Reconcile subledger data to general ledger balances for various lease related GL accounts using Excel spreadsheets and maintain balance sheet reconciliations in the company's reconciliation software (BlackLine) as part of the monthly close process
- Create new lease capitalization schedules in ProLease for acquisitions, relocations, and new office locations
- Monitor lease modifications, renewals, terminations, and impairments and update the related capitalization schedules in ProLease as necessary
- Perform monthly lease audits to verify accuracy and completeness of ProLease data and partner with real estate team to resolve discrepancies
- Help to build and maintain a comprehensive policy and procedures manual for lease accounting
- Review and suggest process improvements and automation in schedules pertaining to lease accounting and monthly close
- Support financial statement audit with Big 4 audit firm, including providing PBC requests, selections testing and follow up requests
- Implement and monitor adequate and effective internal controls
About You - Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Accounting required
- 3+ years of various positions within accounting, specifically general ledger, lease accounting and/or retail roles
- Experience with MS Excel, Pivot Tables, VLOOKLUPS, and complex formulas required
- Experience with ProLease or comparable lease software preferred
- Experience with Oracle Cloud highly preferred, or comparable large ERP software system (e.g., SAP)
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in optical, healthcare retail, specialty retail, or other multi-location retail environments.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Alteryx, or other advanced analytics and visualization tools.
- Knowledge of inventory optimization, replenishment systems, assortment planning, and supply chain concepts.
- Experience supporting executive-level business reviews and strategic planning initiatives.
- Exposure to ERP, merchandise planning, or forecasting systems.
