Full Job Description
Description

The Department of Neurology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine seeks candidates to join the department as a tenure-ineligible Clinical Instructor for its Sports Neurology Fellowship.

The Sports Neurology Fellowship is a one-year subspecialty training program with a focus in treatment of mild traumatic brain injury and other sports-related neurological injuries. The program involves clinical and research training with a focus on sports-related concussion, including training in the diagnosis, management, and return to function after concussion, and developing skills around building appropriate differential diagnosis and referral for alternative or confounding issues.

Fellows will participate weekly in concussion outpatient clinics, as well as elective rotations in neuropsychology, sports medicine, athletic training, outpatient rehabilitation, neuro-otology, neuro-opthalmology, procedures and headache medicine.

Sports Neurology fellows are also expected to participate in medical student and resident education, which may include regular involvement in didactics or other educational experiences.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants must have an MD, DO or other equivalent terminal degree, be board-certified or board-eligible in Neurology, have successfully completed a neurology residency program and be eligible for a license to practice medicine in the state of Virginia.
