The Speech Therapist is responsible for, but not limited to:
- Greets customers in a friendly and welcoming manner. Creates a positive first impression. Smiles, projects a positive attitude.
- Through the continuous improvement of standards of practice and by providing a safe and secure environment the customer will be assured a sense of safety and well-being, free from risk and harm.
- Contributes to the effectiveness of the department/unit by remaining within the acceptable standard of the Agency's Attendance/Tardiness Control Policy.
- Assumes responsibility for a patient caseload, demonstrating clinical expertise with specific diagnosis which include speech/language disorders. (Phonology, morphology, syntax, etc.) and dysphagia (oral, pharyngeal, esophageal and myofunctional disorders.)
- Speech therapy includes providing assessment, treatment and intervention to patients with speech, voice, language communication, swallowing and related disabilities.
- Provides consultation and counseling to patients, as well as families, caregivers and other service providers related to the speech disorders.
- Provision of services that support the effective use of augmentative and alternative communication devices and other communication prostheses and assistive devices.
- Evaluate treatment outcomes to assess effectiveness. Services are modified in relation to their evaluations. Referrals are made in relation to their outcomes.
- Documents plan of care and all services provided. Maintains patient records according to Agency policy.
Education:
Master's Degree in Speech Therapy
Professional Experience:
- Current Speech Therapist Certification in the state ofoperations
- 3+ years experience in Home Health, Acute Care setting or Rehabilitation Facility
