Position Overview
Type of Position: Local Contract
Description:

Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) - School-Based PositionShift Details
  • Shift hours: 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM
Caseload Information
  • Caseload structure differs from traditional public school settings
  • Primary service model is push-in services rather than one-on-one
  • Caseloads are on the higher end
  • Caseload may reach approximately 70 students if short-staffed, or lower when fully staffed
Responsibilities
  • Develop treatment plans, interventions, and/or educational materials to meet individualized student objectives and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Provide speech and language services to students with IEPs; number of students varies depending on workload and possible SLPA support
  • Possible supervision of SLPAs with the implementation of speech and language services in the classroom, depending on caseload numbers
  • Write and attend MET and IEP meetings as the SLP service coordinator
  • Evaluate students in the area of speech and language as determined by the MET team
  • Implement communication goals identified on student IEPs
  • Consult with teachers, parents, other personnel, and/or outside professionals to provide requested information, develop plans for services, and/or make recommendations and/or referrals
  • Follow school-wide systems, rules, and positive behavior interventions
  • Deliver services in a classroom integration model
  • Coach classroom staff and SLPAs on the implementation of speech and communication goals
  • Support staff and students with Augmentative Communication Devices
  • Support classroom curriculum as it relates to language acquisition
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with students and families
  • Responsible for paperwork compliance
  • Accountability for growth and proficiency in IEP goals
  • Participate in annual and ongoing staff training
  • Regular and predictable attendance is considered an essential requirement of this position
  • Complete Medicaid billing
