Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality speech and language interventions at Timmins & District Hospital
  • Conduct video fluoroscopic swallowing assessments as necessary
  • Maintain accurate medical records, including assessments and progress notes
  • Develop and provide formal education programs on feeding/swallowing and communication disorders
  • Track workload measurements and manage caseload statistics
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of new programs
  • Supervise and mentor students and new graduates as per CASLPO guidelines.

Position Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist will be required to provide assessment, intervention, counselling and education services relating to swallowing and communication disorders through a variety of programs.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide speech and language intervention services in accordance with the high quality of Timmins & District Hospital
  • Provide video fluoroscopic swallowing assessments as required
  • Maintain client's medical records including documentation of assessment results, progress notes and formal reports
  • Provide formal education programs for feeding / swallowing programs or communication disorders
  • Maintain appropriate workload measurements and caseload statistics
  • Assist in program development and evaluation
  • Supervise students & mentor graduates according to the guidelines established by CASLPO


Position Requirements

  • Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario
  • Eligibility for membership in Canadian and / or Ontario Associations of Speech Language Pathologists & Audiologists
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal modalities
  • Ability to implement programs consistent with the hospital's needs
  • Ability to build & maintain effective working relationships
  • Competent in administering & interpreting tests and treatment programs
  • Experience in the area of neurogenic communication & swallowing difficulties & expertise in video fluoroscopic swallowing studies would be an asset

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary of $44.67/hour; $87.106.50/year (As per Step 1 of the OPSEU collective agreement.)
  • Option to enroll into Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
