Overview
Blythedale Children’s Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our dedicated team. This position involves evaluating and providing therapy for medically complex pediatric patients, from birth to 18 years old, with a wide range of diagnoses. The Speech Language Pathologist will develop and implement effective treatment plans, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and offer counseling to patients and families to support long-term outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Evaluation and therapy for complex medical children, ages birth to 18 years old, with varied diagnoses.
- Develop and implement effective treatment programs.
- Provide counseling to patients and families regarding test results and establish treatment goals.
- Create accurate documentation and reporting for all patient visits in an electronic medical record system.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings with medical staff and the child’s educational team.
- Familiarity with a variety of speech, feeding, and cognitive disorders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to comply with all regulatory standards.
- Second language proficiency is desired.
- Highly flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of pediatric experience.
Education, Licensure, and Certification
- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.
- Active New York State SLP license required.
- ASHA certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition patients safely,
- Ability to lift, pull, carry, bend, crouch, and balance patients from light to heavyweight.
