Special Education Teacher - ASD Endorsed | Upper Elementary (Grades 4-5)Shift Details
- Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:10 PM
- Grade Levels: 4th and 5th Grade (Upper Elementary)
- Exact site to be determined during the interview process
- Classroom Setting: Self-Contained Special Education
- Assignment Duration: Through the end of the 2026-2027 school year
Position Overview
- A qualified Special Education Teacher with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) endorsement is needed to support students in grades 4-5 in a self-contained classroom
- The selected teacher will provide specialized instruction and behavioral support to students with autism through the remainder of the school year
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized instruction aligned with student IEPs
- Manage a self-contained classroom supporting students with autism and varying academic, behavioral, and developmental needs
- Implement appropriate behavioral interventions, accommodations, and instructional strategies
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and special education teams
- Monitor student progress, maintain IEP documentation, and participate in required meetings
- Foster a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) endorsement is required
- Experience in self-contained special education classrooms preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
Important Credentialing Requirement
- All contract teachers must hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate AND an ASD endorsement
- Substitute teaching permits or licenses are not accepted for contract staffing assignments
