Full Job Description
We are seeking a Specialty Teams Surgery Program Manager to join our World Medical Mission team in North Wilkesboro, NC. Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritan's Purse are to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In the role of Specialty Teams Surgery Program Manager, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
  • Lead the mission and spiritual vision for evangelism, spiritual care, and medical care, ensuring Specialty Teams intentionally engage beneficiaries through Gospel presentation, discipleship, and connection to the local church whenever possible.
  • Provide leadership for global Specialty Team campaigns, equipping staff, volunteers, biomedical teams, and partner hospitals with the resources, logistics, transportation, equipment, and IHQ support needed to deliver excellent medical care around the world.
  • Build and strengthen global partnerships by identifying opportunities with hospitals and Ministries of Health, establishing agreements and necessary permissions, supporting licensing of visiting medical personnel, and developing programs that expand Samaritan's Purse's global impact.
  • Oversee people, finances, and operational readiness, including recruiting and selecting medically qualified volunteers with spiritual integrity, managing staffing and operating/capital budgets, and ensuring appropriate medical equipment, supplies, pharmaceuticals, and customs approvals are secured for each campaign.
  • Ensure excellence in patient care and volunteer service, developing and maintaining policies, procedures, orientation materials, equipment, and supply standards, while directly engaging with and safeguarding Samaritan's Purse beneficiaries, children, young adults, and adults at risk, as part of program operations.

As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:
  • Education: Active RN, PA, or RNP with seven (7) to ten (10) years of related medical experience and/or training in an alternative medical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; surgical experience preferred. Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to provide strategic program direction centered on evangelism while spiritually leading, managing, and motivating diverse teams through challenging and dynamic environments.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects across geographic locations, ensuring activities are spiritually focused, culturally appropriate, and responsive to program needs.
  • Ability to professionally represent World Medical Mission/Samaritan's Purse with visiting specialty teams, local hospital personnel and administrators, NGOs, government officials, patients, missionaries, and other community stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze scientific, technical, financial, and legal information; define problems, establish facts, and draw sound conclusions; and communicate effectively through written materials, presentations, speeches, and engagement with senior leadership and public audiences.
