Join us as a board certified or residency trained Specialty Medical Director at VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center where you'll quickly discover that you're well supported by world-class medicine, technology, facilities and a talented team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated Veterinary Specialist to begin transitioning your career into a leadership position establishing the direction and medical quality of the hospital while also continuing to practice veterinary medicine.

You will receive support from the Regional Medical Director and other field team and Support Office associates.

  • Specialty services include Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Radiology, Surgery, Neurology, Medical & Radiation Oncology, and Emergency/Critical Care.
  • 15 exam rooms, 6 surgical suites, ER surgical room, 64-slice Toshiba CT with automatic injector, 1.5 Tesla MRI, linear accelerator
  • Endoscopic, laparoscopic and thorascopic instrumentation, multiple ultrasounds including a color flow Doppler, O2 cages, two digital radiology suites and a C-arm
  • Complete in-house lab, Abaxis CBC, PT/PTT, chemistry machines, Heska EPOC, I-stat and colloid osmometer
  • Strong rotating internship program with daily rounds, teaching environment
  • Hiking, mountain biking, water sports, skiing, wine tasting, and camping
  • Access to a network of specialists within VCA

Compensation
  • Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The annual salary range for this position is $200-$250k.
  • This position may also be eligible for an MD stipend and MD bonus in addition to other variable pay programs

Qualifications
  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, from an accredited university or equivalent
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in Florida, or the ability to obtain
  • Residency Trained or Diplomate Board Certification
  • A commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics
