The salary range for this role is $82,600.00 to $103,200.00. Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate’s experience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.
Position Summary:
The Health & Safety Specialist (H&S) is responsible for identifying, removing, and reducing workplace hazards and risks. This position develops and implements policies that ensure compliance with applicable safety rules and regulations, assists departments with compliance, and supports continuous improvement of the company’s health and safety practices.
What you will do:
Implementation and Policy Development
- Implement and deliver initial and refresher H&S training programs to operations team members and all new hires.
- Conduct site risk assessments to identify risks, and work with the site leadership team to develop mitigation and elimination strategies that support a safe working environment.
- Manage and implement health and safety programs that meet regulatory and Pernod Ricard requirements.
- Help drive continuous improvement in H&S performance across the site.
- Develop corrective action plans with key stakeholders and track actions to closure.
- Drive safety culture initiatives.
Record Keeping
- Conduct incident and accident investigations to determine root causes and preventive actions, and track actions to closure.
- Maintain relevant EHS logs and documentation.
Data-Driven Performance
- Partner with site management to ensure applicable H&S KPIs—including accident rates, training participation, and defects—are defined, tracked, and measured regularly, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Conduct inspections as required.
Ongoing Responsibilities
- Coordinate the purchase, proper use, maintenance, and inspection of required safety and personal protective equipment.
- Provide assistance and advice on EHS issues and make recommendations to area managers.
- Work effectively with employees to advance the site’s safety culture while maintaining positive, proactive relationships with managers and employees.
- Support oversight of the on-site third-party security vendor.
- Oversee and support the on-site emergency response team.
- Participate in and engage with the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you bring :
- Three or more years of safety management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with applicable reference standards, including NFPA, OSHA, DISCUS, and ANSI.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and facilitate learning.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with computer applications and Microsoft products.
Education:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field.
Preferred:
- Safety management experience in a manufacturing environment.
Financial Responsibility:
- Greatly influences goals but does not have final authority. Manages and deploys resources to meet the goals.
- May track or report data and handle administrative tasks.
