Full Job Description
Specialist, Collaborative Delivery and Lean Construction

Reporting into the Collaborative Delivery Center of Excellence, the Specialist, Collaborative Delivery & Lean Construction will work closely with head office and project sites to help build high-performing project teams. This role will support teams through workshop facilitation, Lean Construction practices, collaborative planning, and project development support, helping ensure teams have the tools, information, and alignment they need to execute effectively.

This role will support operations nationally as a shared resource across Industrial, Buildings, Infrastructure, and other groups as needed. Based in the eastern Canada and working closely with counterparts in the West, this person will build credibility and strong working relationships with project teams and internal and external partners to provide seamless support to internal and external clients. Travel to project sites and other offices will be required.

What You Will Be Working On

Facilitation & Team Alignment

  • Facilitate project workshops, planning sessions, and team-alignment initiatives that build trust, strengthen culture, enhance collaboration, drive meaningful actions and enable high-performing project teams.
  • Support Last Planner System activities, including pull-planning sessions and related training.
  • Facilitate collaborative project kick-offs, Big Room sessions, Lean Construction sessions, IPD and Alliance training, and lessons learned discussions.
  • Work with Project Leads to design practical plans that support project success.
  • Facilitate Project/IPD Big Room health surveys, synthesize feedback, and partner with project leadership teams to drive continuous improvement.

Material, Process and Continuous Improvement

  • Develop learning and reference materials that support consistent facilitation, skill development, and project execution.
  • Support the creation and refinement of Lean Construction processes, standards, templates, and best practices.
  • Revisit tools and resources regularly to ensure they remain practical, relevant, and aligned to project needs.
  • Stay current on market trends, research, and emerging practices that can strengthen collaborative delivery and Lean Construction at Bird.

Business Development and External Connection Support

  • Build relationships with business development teams across Bird and support them with pursuit-related materials, RFQ/RFP responses, and project team interview preparation.
  • Connect with IPD and Lean practitioners outside of Bird to stay current on market practices and bring relevant insights back to internal teams.

It would be an asset if the candidate had the following experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in a related field.
  • 8+ years of project experience, preferably within a project-based, construction or related industry. Experience facilitating project workshops, planning sessions, or team alignment sessions in a project-based, operations or construction environment.
  • Experience supporting collaborative contracting models, such as IPD, Alliance, and/or Progressive Design-Build.
  • Applied Lean Construction experience and/or formal Lean Construction training.
