What You Will Do:
  • Lead solution architecture, technical strategy, and modernization planning activities for a major utility organization.
  • Assess current-state applications, integrations, databases, and infrastructure to identify modernization opportunities, technical debt, and architectural risks.
  • Develop target-state architecture blueprints, technical roadmaps, and implementation strategies aligned with business and technology objectives.
  • Define application, integration, data, and cloud architecture patterns to support scalable and sustainable future-state solutions.
  • Lead architecture workshops, technical discovery sessions, and design reviews with client stakeholders, business teams, and delivery organizations.
  • Develop architecture artifacts, including system diagrams, integration designs, data flow models, technical specifications, and decision records.
  • Provide technical leadership and governance throughout the planning and design phase while establishing standards for future implementation activities.
  • Partner with data, application, and infrastructure teams to define modernization approaches for legacy systems and complex utility data environments.
  • Design and review API, event-driven, messaging, and batch-processing integration strategies.
  • Collaborate with client and project leadership to identify risks, dependencies, and implementation considerations that may impact successful delivery.
  • Support transition from planning and design into implementation activities anticipated throughout 2027.
  • Present recommendations, findings, and architectural decisions to executive and technical stakeholders.


What You Will Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Application Modernization, or related technical leadership roles.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience leading large-scale enterprise application modernization or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated utility industry experience supporting electric, gas, water, or energy organizations.
  • Experience developing enterprise application, integration, and cloud architecture strategies.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft .NET/C# application architectures.
  • Experience designing REST and SOAP services and enterprise integration solutions.
  • Experience with Angular-based application architectures.
  • Experience with SQL Server and relational database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience designing and architecting solutions utilizing Databricks.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and cloud architecture best practices.
  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures, message queuing technologies, and integration frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate architecture workshops and communicate effectively with both technical and executive audiences.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and presentation development.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to New York City approximately every other week for 2-3 days per trip (unless based in New York City).

What Would Be Nice To Have:
  • Experience supporting utility customer, billing, meter, usage, asset management, or operational systems.
  • Experience with cloud architecture in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience designing large-scale data migration, transformation, and analytics solutions.
  • Experience developing modernization roadmaps for legacy application portfolios.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks and governance processes.
  • Experience working in consulting environments supporting large-scale technology transformation programs.
  • Experience leading architecture review boards, governance committees, and technical steering groups.
  • Knowledge of utility regulatory requirements and operational considerations.
  • Experience supporting both strategy/design and implementation phases of modernization programs.


The annual salary range for this position is $162,000.00-$270,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
