Full Job Description
Overview

As a Civil Engineering Project Manager for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc., in our Waste Management Practice in the Pittsburgh office, you’ll manage projects primarily associated with waste facilities. You’ll be an integral member of our team working on a variety of civil engineering and environmental science projects. You will lead projects through all phases of development, from planning and design through permitting, construction administration, and final certification, working with an established team of professionals to solve problems, reduce risk and costs, optimize performance, and satisfy client needs. You’ll manage project teams to be responsible for calculating airspace and earthwork volumes; preparing and reviewing technical reports; designing stormwater management systems, leachate management systems, and landfill gas collection systems; and performing geotechnical analyses. In addition, you will prepare and review landfill grading plans, construction drawings, and technical specifications.

You will be responsible for the management of construction quality assurance projects including landfill cell liner/leachate collection systems, gas collection systems, cap construction, and environmental monitoring of landfill facilities. You’ll be directly responsible for developing proposals, preparing project budgets and schedules, managing engineering staff, performing quality control reviews, and successfully delivering projects. While interacting with clients, contractors, and state regulatory officials, you will lead all phases of project execution, including planning, design, regulatory approvals, and construction administration.

In addition, you will partner with your fellow managers and Principals to mentor staff and support their professional development through annual performance reviews, coaching, and the establishment of career development goals. In turn, CEC’s senior management team will support your professional growth through mentoring, project management training, and business development opportunities tailored to your career goals.

At CEC, our employees enjoy a flexible/hybrid work schedule, with hybrid options. Our comprehensive benefits package includes bonus recognition, based on performance, as well as participation in our employee stock ownership program. Additionally, we conduct mid-year and end-of-year performance reviews and provide goal-setting opportunities.

Endless perks are available to employees at CEC! Our office boasts a full-scale gym, café serving breakfast and lunch, and recreation rooms—creating the perfect balance of wellness and productivity. Throughout the year, employees enjoy ping pong, pool, cornhole, and pickleball tournaments as well as the annual summer picnic, themed happy hours, and fun team building activities including go-kart racing and curling!  We also understand the importance of reaching beyond the office and giving back to the community—CEC employees volunteer for trail workdays to enhance local parks, maintain a CEC-designed pollinator garden for our office campus, and organize an annual charity golf tournament.  At CEC Pittsburgh, we pride ourselves on fostering a culture of connection, collaboration, and growth within the office and in our community.
