We are hiring a Software Systems Engineer to support an enterprise-level program within a federal environment.
Job Description and Responsibilities
Formulates/defines specifications for complex operating software programming applications or modifies/maintains complex existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents those programs. Provides overall operating system maintenance, such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, large telecommunications networks, computer accounting, and advanced mathematical/scientific software packages. Assists all phases of software systems programming applications. Evaluates new and existing software products.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)
Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, system architecture, software development life cycles, and modern programming methodologies.
Understanding of operating systems, databases, networking concepts, APIs, cloud technologies, and system integration practices.
Proficient in designing, developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining scalable and reliable software systems using languages such as Java, Python, C++, or C#.
Ability to analyze complex technical requirements, troubleshoot system issues, and develop effective solutions while balancing performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
Ability to collaborate effectively with software developers, systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated technical solutions.
Ability to document technical designs, communicate complex concepts clearly, adapt to emerging technologies, and continuously improve software and system performance.
