Consumer Digital Experiences (CDE) is the GM organization responsible for high-quality, low-friction mobile and web platforms spanning brand experiences, vehicle commerce, sales, leads, and loyalty. This position is with the Loyalty team helping build GM's Loyalty platforms with world class earn/redeem experiences to increase advocacy and engagement of our customers.

The Role

As a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing one or more software development teams. You are expected to leverage your technical background to ensure that software is designed and developed using sound, repeatable, industry standard methodologies and in accordance with GM's software development project methodology; including but not limited to standards in code quality, performance, stability, security and overall alignment and compliance with project objectives.

The ideal candidate brings strong people leadership and hands-on expertise in Web application development technologies such as Angular, React, .Net Core, Postgresql etc. The role requires someone who can coach engineers, guide architecture and delivery decisions, and stay close enough to the work to help unblock complex technical and platform challenges.

What You'll Do
  • Set technical and delivery direction by translating business strategy into team priorities, roadmaps, and measurable success metrics and outcomes.
  • Lead and develop engineering teams through hiring, coaching, feedback, mentoring, stretch work, and career development.
  • Manage concurrent projects and delivery execution, including scope, capacity, dependencies, risks, blockers, and on-time delivery of high-quality data products.
  • Provide technical leadership and promote strong software engineering practices, quality, experimentation, reusable patterns, governance, and scalable solutions.
  • Strengthen reliability, scalability, and operational excellence across the platform space.
  • Communicate status and escalate issues through program reviews, Jira/Confluence reporting, risk tracking, and leadership updates.
  • Lead performance tuning, usability assessment / improvement, AI adoption and automation technologies.
  • Assess security risks for applications and code remediation techniques.
  • Oversee Integration efforts of software or solutions with existing software/systems.
  • Expert knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software systems.
  • Understand and maintain compliance with GM standards and industry best practice.
  • Provide support for deployment and post Go-live. Able to troubleshoot and lead the production incidents to closure.


Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of development experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience including developing teams
  • Strong knowledge of web development technologies such as .Net Core / Spring boot, Angular/React, Microservices, REST based APIs, Azure or other cloud technologies, GitHub, Jira, Messaging middleware such as Azure Event Hub / Kafka, etc.
  • Proficiency in database technologies and SQL such as PostgreSQL
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
