Full Job Description
We are looking for an Engineer who will be developing, supporting, maintaining, and evolving 2D and 3D visualization tools for autonomous vehicle development and testing. You have curiosity in AV perception and planning, and enjoy breaking down and presenting complex data in an intuitive, efficient, and effective manner. The role's focus will be deploying tools into production with minimal disruption. This is an opportunity to work collaboratively across multiple teams and leadership within Kodiak. We are in a hybrid onsite environment based out of Mountain View, CA. In this role, you will: - Participate in building our tooling suite, proactively identifying opportunities to improve performance and scaling our 2D and 3D visualization capabilities as our fleet grows. - Build intuitive interfaces in ReactJS, TypeScript, and Three.js that translate complex AV sensor data into actionable insights for our engineering teams. - Partner directly with Software Engineering, Quality, and Operations to deeply understand their workflows, transforming user feedback into high-impact features. - Help develop robust backend services and APIs that bridge the gap between raw robotics data and the UI. - Champion code quality and documentation, helping us evolve our infrastructure as we push the boundaries of long-haul autonomous trucking. Qualifications: - Strong technical background as evidenced by BS, MS, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline. - 2+ years of experience building intuitive fullstack applications. - Solid understanding of TypeScript, ReactJS, HTML, CSS, and related web technologies. - Familiarity of C++ is a bonus! - Experience with modern 2D and 3D JavaScript libraries and tooling, esp. Three.js - Experience with app profiling and performance tuning. - Experience working with time series robotics data such as Rosbags or mcaps - Experience building and maintaining backend services and APIs. - Great communicator; you must be capable of writing clear, concise, and detailed documentation. - Passion; you must be passionate about autonomous vehicles and their potential impact on humanity. The pay range listed below reflects the base salary in our SF/Silicon Valley location, across several internal levels. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors including: work location, experience, relevant training, education, skill level and performance during interview.
