SummarySENS is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role is primarily responsible for improving and extending the Build & Test software used in our manufacturing environment, including resolving persistent performance and reliability issues that affect production.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned application developer who can work deeply within an existing codebase, diagnose difficult software and software/hardware integration problems, and deliver maintainable solutions for sustaining projects. The role will also maintain and improve customer-facing software utilities.
Responsibilities- Own the ongoing improvement, optimization, and reliability of SENS Build & Test software used to configure, calibrate, and test products in production.
- Investigate and resolve complex Build & Test performance issues by profiling applications, tracing execution, and data flow, analyzing software/hardware interactions, and identifying root causes within existing code.
- Design and develop new Build & Test functions and utilities for sustaining engineering projects, ensuring products are built and tested correctly and consistently.
- Debug, maintain, and enhance customer-facing applications, and other desktop, mobile, or web-based tools.
- Serve as a technical expert on SENS application software and its integration with SENS hardware for both manufacturing and customer use cases.
- Contribute to application architecture and software component design, emphasizing maintainability, performance, automated testing, and reuse of common code, libraries, and DLLs.
- Develop, test, document, and implement software-related engineering changes that improve manufacturing flow, product quality, and customer experience.
- Provide escalated software troubleshooting and problem-solving support to Manufacturing, Engineering, and Customer Service.
- Conduct code reviews and collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Customer Service to deliver robust, supportable software solutions.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with extensive experience developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing production-quality software utilities or applications.
- Experience developing applications in C# and with .NET and/or .NET Core.
- Strong command of object-oriented programming, design patterns, software architecture, and maintainable coding practices.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose difficult performance, reliability, and integration problems in mature or complex codebases.
- Experience developing and deploying applications on Windows and Linux platforms.
- Experience with relational databases, including schema design and SQL for creating, storing, retrieving, and modifying data.
- Experience creating, running, and deploying containerized applications such as Docker.
- Experience developing, testing, and troubleshooting software/hardware integrations.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, and/or Python.
- Experience using source control platforms such as GitHub.
- Experience conducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback to promote code quality and engineering best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, written communication, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues and progress to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborative and flexible team player who can manage multiple priorities and build effective working relationships across the organization.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with Entity Framework and Blazor.
- Experience developing software utilities for product assembly, configuration, calibration, and testing in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience using profilers, diagnostic tools, automated tests, or logging/telemetry to resolve application performance problems.
- Experience interfacing software with test equipment such as digital multimeters, data acquisition systems, load banks, and similar instrumentation.
- Experience with CAN bus and Modbus communication protocols.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of critical power systems, generator-set backup systems, industrial battery chargers, battery systems, or battery monitoring systems.
Location: Longmont, CO
Base Compensation: $120,000 - $145,000 is the projected annual base salary range and will be determined based on the candidate's overall qualifications and experience.
Bonus: This position is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
