Full Job Description
As a Software Engineer, you will play a key role in the architecture, development, and evolution of Client's Vehicle Integration System (VIS), a critical platform enabling vehicle upfitters, fleet customers, and internal engineering teams to configure and integrate aftermarket equipment with production vehicles. You will work at the intersection of cloud software, embedded vehicle systems, AI-powered engineering tools, and vehicle communications networks. The role requires strong software engineering expertise combined with automotive systems knowledge to enable seamless integration of CAN/J1939 signals, vehicle switches, telematics data, proprietary vehicle modules, and future software-defined vehicle capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Software Engineering
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Google cloud-native and desktop-based applications supporting VIS configuration workflows, with a solid understanding of vehicle architecture.
• Architect and implement microservices and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, React, and PostgreSQL.
• Develop reusable frameworks and services that support vehicle feature configuration, signal management, and integration workflows.
• Ensure performance, scalability, reliability, and cybersecurity requirements are met across all VIS components.
Vehicle Integration & Systems Engineering
• Collaborate closely with vehicle feature engineers, module owners, telematics teams, and external suppliers to integrate new vehicle capabilities into VIS.
• Support integration of:
• CAN and CAN-FD signals
• J1939 communications
• LIN-based devices
• Vehicle Ethernet technologies
• Hard switches and soft switches
• Telematics and connected vehicle services
• Analyze vehicle architecture changes and determine impacts to VIS configuration models and workflows.
• Participate in system-level design reviews and technical feasibility assessments.
• Design and integrate AI-powered capabilities that improve configuration authoring, validation, and diagnostics.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies applicable to vehicle integration and software-defined vehicles.
• Analyze vehicle feature requirements, PRDs, Gherkin scenarios, signal definitions, network specifications, and module interface documentation to translate vehicle capabilities into VIS configuration logic and software implementations.
• Develop and maintain high-level and detailed architecture designs for VIS components, APIs, vehicle integration services, AI-enabled capabilities, and cloud-connected systems.
• Champion modern engineering practices including automated testing, test-driven development, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, code quality metrics, and DevSecOps principles.
• Evaluate technical requirements and determine appropriate architecture patterns, technology stacks, integration approaches, deployment strategies, and data models to support current and future VIS capabilities.
