Software Engineer to lead the implementation of robust identity, access control, and permission mechanisms across critical High-Performance Computing (HPC) system resources. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of security engineering, IAM architecture, and HPC infrastructure-ensuring enterprise system resources remain fully compliant with Agency security policies and industry standards. You will design and deploy Role-Based and Attribute-Based Access Control (RBAC/ABAC) systems, build seamless SSO integrations, automate secrets management, and drive continuous deployment using Ansible and GitLab CI. The annual base salary range for this role is $199,000-$235,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
Required Skills- Linux & Automation: Expertise with the Linux CLI and proficient in Bash scripting for task and process automation.
- Python Development: Strong software development skills in Python.
- HPC Access Control: Direct experience implementing RBAC and ABAC for high-performance computing platforms.
- Advanced Linux Security: Hands-on experience with Linux security administration, including PAM, SELinux, file permissions, ACLs, and audit logging.
- IAM & SSO: Proven experience developing IAM solutions with Keycloak and implementing identity federation/SSO using SAML, OIDC, and OAuth2.
- Secrets Management: Practical experience developing and maintaining integrations with HashiCorp Vault.
- Infrastructure Automation: Hands-on experience writing Ansible playbooks for provisioning HPC hardware and software stack automation.
- Containers & CI/CD: Experience with container technologies (Docker, Podman, containerd) and CI/CD methodologies using GitLab CI and Git.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Data Analytics, Intelligence Studies, Computer Science, Finance/Economics, or a related discipline, PLUS
7+ years of specialized data analytics or financial intelligence experience OR
Master's Degree in a related field, PLUS
5+ years of specialized analytical experience OR
High School Diploma / GED, PLUS
9+ years of hands-on intelligence analysis, financial tracking, and data discovery experience in lieu of a degree.
Desired SkillsAgile Frameworks: Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies.
Atlassian Tooling: Hands-on experience using Jira for task management and Confluence for technical documentation and architecture tracking.
