ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TS/SCI POLYGRAPH LEVEL IS REQUIRED
We are seeking an experienced, consultative Senior Systems Modernization Software Engineer to drive complex application modernization initiatives. In this role, you will apply advanced technical expertise to solve intricate system challenges, optimize core software architectures, and deliver resilient software solutions within an Agile environment. Operating as both a lead engineer and trusted technical advisor, you will bridge legacy system capabilities with modern engineering frameworks-troubleshooting high-priority problem reports, performing continuous system maintenance, and designing innovative technical solutions that directly enhance operational performance across critical intelligence mission threads.
The annual base salary range for this role is $182,000-$215,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
Required Skills
Agile Software Modernization: Extensive experience modernizing complex legacy software applications and refactoring architecture in iterative, Agile environments.
Full-Lifecycle Software Maintenance & Support: Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end software development, regular problem-solving, defect resolution, and continuous system maintenance.
Advanced Technical Problem-Solving: Ability to devise and implement creative, scalable solutions to complex technical challenges across distributed software systems.
Consultative Technical Leadership: Strong background acting as a subject matter expert, applying industry best practices, and advising stakeholders on software modernization roadmaps.
Continuous Integration & Quality Assurance: Experience establishing unit testing frameworks, debugging legacy codebases, and maintaining system stability through rigorous software delivery pipelines.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, PLUS 7+ years of professional software development experience OR High School Diploma / GED, PLUS 11+ years of hands-on technical software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
Desired Skills
Cloud & Containerization Migration: Experience re-platforming legacy software into cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure) or containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
Microservices & API Refactoring: Hands-on experience decomposing monolithic legacy applications into decoupled RESTful microservices.
DevSecOps Pipeline Integration: Familiarity integrating automated build, test, and deployment workflows via modern CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins).
