ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TS/SCI POLYGRAPH LEVEL IS REQUIRED
We are seeking a versatile, heavy-hitting Software Engineer with deep big data and cloud expertise to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD.
In this role, you will architect, maintain, and scale complex, processing-intensive analytics and distributed datastores capable of handling massive datasets. You won't just write routine code-you'll dive deep into Hadoop and Accumulo infrastructure, automate resilient cloud architecture using Terraform on AWS, and write performant Java and Python services. The annual base salary range for this role is $146,000-$173,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
Required Skills
Big Data Frameworks: Hands-on experience developing against and maintaining distributed big data platforms including Hadoop and Accumulo.
AWS Cloud Environments: Practical experience building and deploying cloud-native applications within AWS.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proven proficiency provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
Dual-Language Proficiency: Strong development skills in both Java and Python for large-scale data manipulation and analytics.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, PLUS 7+ years of professional software engineering experience OR Master's Degree in a related field, PLUS 5+ years of specialized software development experience OR High School Diploma / GED, PLUS 11+ years of hands-on technical software engineering and big data experience in lieu of a degree.
Desired Skills
Distributed Query & Analytics: Experience writing complex map-reduce routines, analytics engines, or high-speed data indexing frameworks.
DevOps & CI/CD Pipelines: Familiarity with automated build and deployment pipelines using GitLab CI/CD or Jenkins.
Containerization: Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes orchestration within cloud environments.
System Hardening & Security: Understanding of cloud security best practices, access control mechanisms, and data encryption standards.
