Job DescriptionACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TS/SCI POLYGRAPH LEVEL IS REQUIREDWe are seeking a
Software Engineer to design, develop, maintain, and enhance complex, high-performance software systems across critical defense and intelligence customer missions. In this role, you will work individually and alongside agile, multi-disciplinary engineering teams to develop processing-intensive analytics, implement novel algorithms, and manipulate massive datasets in real-time environments. You will actively participate in system architecture discussions-evaluating hardware/software trade-offs, driving code reuse, and leveraging COTS/GOTS solutions-while resolving problem reports and ensuring rigorous software testing and quality standards.
The annual base salary range for this role is $149,000-$176,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
Required Skills- Complex Software System Engineering: Hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, real-time data pipelines, algorithm development, or business management systems).
- Large-Scale Data Processing: Demonstrated ability to manipulate, process, and optimize processing pipelines for extremely large datasets.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Skilled in reviewing, unit testing, and integration testing software components against documented design requirements, as well as tracking and resolving software problem reports (PRs/Jira tickets).
- Software Architecture & Trade-Off Analysis: Experience providing technical input into system-level design, including evaluating hardware/software trade-offs, driving software reuse, and integrating COTS/GOTS solutions in place of new development.
- Agile Software Methodologies: Proficiency using modern software engineering methodologies, tools, and practices tailored to dynamic development environments.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline, PLUS
7+ years of professional experience in data science, NLP, or software engineering OR
High School Diploma / GED, PLUS
11+ years of specialized technical experience in lieu of a degree.
Desired SkillsModern Programming Languages: Proficiency in languages such as Java, Python, C++, Go, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
Cloud & Containerization: Experience developing cloud-native microservices using AWS services, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Data Processing Frameworks: Familiarity with distributed computing and data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, or NiFi).
CI/CD & DevOps: Practical knowledge of automated build, deployment, and continuous integration tools (e.g., Git, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
