About the jobThis position is needed to fulfill the critical role of a Software Engineer within Twilio Sendgrid, to be both hands-on in creating, deploying and managing highly available, very large scale distributed systems.
Our systems processed 12 billion emails on Black Friday 2026 and we continue to scale! You will be a key contributor in one or more of these areas - Redesigning backend services to improve scalability, strengthening service security to keep up with changing threats. Delivering solutions that enhance the customer journey and developing new product offerings that provide actionable insights into the health of customers' email programs.
ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you'll:
- WEAR THE CUSTOMER'S SHOES: Ship reliable features, at scale, that deliver the most value to your customers. You will partner with engineering and product to understand customers' challenges, see opportunities, craft solutions, and lead the team to deliver the right value
- BE AN OWNER: Perform thorough and thoughtful code reviews to help maintain a high standard of code quality
- BE AN OWNER: Identify key system metrics and ensure adequate monitoring coverage for new and existing data storage and analytical services
- DRAW THE OWL: Be creative, take your own initiative, and solve some of our most challenging problems

Required:- 3+ years of experience in your craft with demonstrated skill progression
- Proficiency with Go or similar typed programming languages (Java, C#, C++, Rust, etc)
- Ability to implement reliable, maintainable components
- Automation-minded; experience automating processes and administrative tasks
- A highly effective collaborator, you work with your team and help drive team towards common goals
- Self-driven; take complete ownership of your tasks and champion efforts to get your tasks to completion
- Degree in Computer Science or similar experience work experience
Desired:- Experience with Docker, and/or Kubernetes, or other containerization technologies
- Experience with Terraform or similar configuration management tools
- Experience with MySQL or AWS Aurora database systems
- Experience with Kafka or other distributed logging systems
- Experience with AWS or other cloud infrastructure providers (GCP, Azure)
Location This role will be Remote in the USA but is not eligible to be hired in CA, NY, WA, PA, CT. We prioritize connections and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other. For this role, you may be required to travel occasionally to participate in project or team in-person meetings.

Compensation*Please note this role is open to candidates outside of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington D.C., and Washington State. The information below is provided for candidates hired in those locations only.
The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
- Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C. : $138,700 - $173,400
- Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $146,800 - $183,600
- Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $163,100 - $203,900.
- This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location..
