The Work

As a software integration engineer on the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) team, you will support the integration of software components and subsystems within complex system-of-systems environments. The role involves troubleshooting software, interface, build, configuration, and integration issues while supporting software deployments, testing, and verification activities. The engineer works closely with software, systems, test, and infrastructure teams to resolve technical issues and ensure successful system performance.

Standard Job Description

Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience, or PhD and 1 year of experience.
  • Previous experience with integration of separate software components into a single system
  • Experience with Windows and Linux system administration
  • Candidate must have, or be able to develop, in depth expertise in the GSS Launch Management Systems concept of operations and user interface
  • Experience writing installation manuals
  • Develop scripts in Bash, C Shell, Python and work within the Atlassian toolset (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, GIT, Jenkins and Artifactory)
  • CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent) DoD 8570.01M IAT Level II - Certification
  • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start.


Desired Skills

  • Experience with Ansible Automation Platform, including Ansible Tower
  • Familiarity with Java and object oriented development
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot application source code, ASCII logs and XML logs

Ability to perform basic SQL operations in a MySQL environment

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $98100.00 - $182100.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
