DUTIES As a successful candidate for the Software Engineer I - Tools and Applications role, you will help build and maintain the foundation for customer AI capabilities while supporting a broader ecosystem of AI-enabled applications. You will develop and maintain high-quality tools and applications that allow the workforce to use AI seamlessly and efficiently. In a dynamic environment where requirements shift as mission needs adapt and new technology emerges, you will continuously hone your skills to turn loosely defined problems into impactful, working solutions.
Required SkillsSKILLS - Develop high-quality AI tools and applications for workforce adoption
- Ensure high availability, reliability, performance, and security across AI tools
- Modify and adapt Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) to satisfy customer use cases
- Engage directly with users to conduct requirements elicitation and deliver targeted solutions
- Maintain existing customer-facing applications and infrastructure to guarantee reliable service
QUALIFICATIONS Three (3) years' experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
Additional Requirements:- Apply fundamental UI/UX design principles to tool and application development
- Integrate LLMs into software development workflows to enhance coding efficiency and solution functionality
- Rapidly learn and adopt new technologies as project and mission needs evolve
- Communicate effectively and collaborate proactively to clarify requirements and solve technical challenges
- Demonstrate proficiency in Python or another modern object-oriented programming language
Desired SkillsNICE-TO-HAVES- Utilize open-source LLM UI software such as OpenWebUI
- Operate within AWS or other major cloud service provider environments
- Deploy and manage applications using Kubernetes and Helm
- Implement CI/CD workflows using Argo CD or similar frameworks
- Support production software using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices
- Package and manage applications using Docker and containerization
