DescriptionWe're looking for highly talented software engineers to join our development team with a primary focus on our core point-of-sale platform and the broader ecosystem of applications it connects to across the enterprise. We're looking for AI-native engineers who default to working through AI agents at every stage of the SDLC: planning, implementation, review, testing, and debugging. You'll design, build, and ship features across a modern full-stack codebase, working on everything from high-density data tables and interactive UI to the REST APIs and shared contracts that keep our systems in sync. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives working closely with a team, moves quickly without cutting corners, and wants real impact and immediate feedback on the software that runs our business every day. We're growing this team to keep pace with a large and expanding body of work, so strong collaboration and communication across engineers matter as much as individual skill.
SupervisionThe employee in this position reports to the VP of Information Technology and does not supervise other employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Design, build, and maintain features across our core platform's React/TypeScript frontend and Fastify API, plus the shared schema layer that keeps it and its downstream consumers in sync.
- Work in an agile environment alongside a small, highly skilled team covering the full SDLC - from design through deployment.
- Provide reliable effort estimates and consistently deliver against them.
- Communicate directly with business stakeholders - operations, finance, merchandising, IT, and other teams - to translate real-world workflows into shipped software.
- Build highly interactive, data-dense UI (large tables, filtering, bulk actions) that stays fast, intuitive, and consistent across browsers and devices.
- Design and evolve REST APIs and shared Zod-based contracts with a backwards-compatibility-first mindset - the platform is consumed by other applications you may not always see, so breaking changes require care and versioning discipline.
- Apply strong security fundamentals across the stack: input validation, safe AWS access patterns (IAM roles, not static credentials), dependency supply-chain hygiene, and general web application security.
- Work comfortably with relational databases - schema design, queries, and data modeling across all business domains.
- Integrate with AWS services and other third-party APIs as needed.
- Work AI-native by default - using AI agents to plan, implement, test, debug, and review your work - while staying fully accountable for the correctness, quality, and security of everything you ship.
- Coordinate closely with other engineers on the team to divide up and stay aligned on a large, shared body of work.
- Take on other duties as assigned, with the flexibility to move between frontend, backend, and infrastructure work as the team's needs shift.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Solid understanding of the SDLC and agile development practices such as writing automated tests as part of the work rather than after it, reviewing teammates' code, and shipping through CI/CD with staged environments and end-to-end verification before production.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong collaborative instinct - you'll work closely with teammates and non-technical stakeholders alike.
- Sharp attention to detail and a genuine problem-solving mindset.
- Genuinely AI-native - use of AI coding agents across the full dev lifecycle, with the judgment to direct them on substantial tasks and catch subtle mistakes in their output.
- Deep hands-on expertise with modern web technologies: TypeScript, React, Node.js, HTML5, CSS3, and RESTful API design.
- Comfort working across multiple related repositories with strict typing, shared schemas (Zod), and modern tooling (Vite, Vitest, Playwright, ESLint/Prettier).
- Understanding of relational databases and schema designs, with an appreciation for efficient queries against production data.
- Ability to design and consume REST APIs, including versioning and contract stability across multiple consuming applications.
- Working knowledge of general system and network architecture, protocols, and how they apply to enterprise software integration.
- Practical experience with AWS (S3, IAM, Athena, Lambda, or similar) and applying cloud-native patterns securely.
- A bias toward speed and strong teamwork - comfortable moving fast, shipping iteratively, and working well within a team tackling a large, shared workload.
RequirementsConditions of Employment- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related area preferred
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug test
