About the Role

As a software engineer on the data visualization team you will own the applications used to introspect robot data. Bridge the gap between sensors, logs, diagnostics, telemetry, mission intel, and a diverse set of users across the Dot team. You will be expected to architect and develop systems with a high degree of autonomy. You will set roadmaps, identify opportunities for new systems, and execute. The applications you build should be intuitive, practical, and delightful to use. This role requires end to end ownership of both backend and frontend systems.

• Build tools that help users across autonomy, operations, product, and executive teams understand robot behavior both on-road and in simulation
• Expand upon extensive web tooling for interaction with time series data, video playback, and 3D scene reconstruction
• Maintain a robust C++ visualization framework for transforming robot data into informative and beautiful 2D and 3D web output
• Develop a portfolio of data introspection capabilities to support an expanding fleet of next generation robots

• Robotics, self driving, scientific visualization, simulation
• High performance browser technologies (WebCodecs, Web Workers)

• Distributed/batch compute (Ray, Temporal, Buildkite, Docker, Kubernetes)
• AWS infra (ECR, S3, lambda, api-gateway, Cloudfront)
• Application profiling and optimization
• Modern C++, STL

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
• 5+ years of experience in full stack software development
• Fluency with React and Typescript
• Experience in 3d computer graphics
• Comfortable independently identifying and solving problems with high levels of ambiguity
• Excel at working cross-functionally with stakeholders up and down the stack

Compensation

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee's work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

• For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
• For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).

The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado.
