Overview

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training.

Responsibilities
  • Develops system and network daemons in support of Department of War (DoW) cybersecurity, cryptographic protection, and data protection requirements.
  • Develops end-user interfaces and system applications on various hosting operating systems and networks, with emphasis on usability for non-engineering users.
  • Conducts research in the design, development, testing, and utilization of electronic data processing software.
  • Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software solutions, to potentially include development of host hardware to fit the requirements of the solution.
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
  • Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
  • Develops and integrates hardware components or host-platform modifications needed to support software and cryptographic protection solutions.
  • Supports hardware/software integration, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure system performance, interoperability, and security requirements are met.
  • Ensures various software standards are met, including DoW cybersecurity standards.
  • Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.Confers with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
  • Designs, develops, and modifies software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
  • Coordinates software system installations and monitors equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years of related work experience.
  • DoD 8570.1-M Cybersecurity Technician Level II or III certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+/Network+, or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)) and operating systems certification (e.g., Microsoft Technology Professional, CompTIA Linux+, and Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA)).
  • Experience using industry-standard programming languages (Rust, C++, Java, Python).
  • Ability to obtain Secret level security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required for the purpose of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.
Pay Transparency StatementAMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $80,000.00/Yr. - USD $120,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
