Full Job Description

The Team and Role:

The Netflix Finance and Tax Technology Team manages and delivers solutions for the constantly evolving needs of our Finance and Tax teams. Our team is seeking an excellent engineer to help us build applications and work in a rapid development environment with multiple internal business stakeholders and to meet external regulatory requirements.  This position will reside in the company’s Los Gatos, US office and will report to the Manager, Finance and Tax Technology.

What You Will do

As a SWE you will be

  • Responsible for designing, developing and delivering (including post launch support) scalable solutions to support our Finance and Tax teams globally. 

  • Working closely with internal business stakeholders from Finance and Tax teams to understand the use cases and build end-to-end solutions. 

  • Forging strong cross-functional relationships with business partners across various finance and engineering teams to successfully engage, understand and solve their needs.

  • You are able to work independently and drive features or components throughout the development lifecycle - from identifying requirements to launching in production.

  • You have exposure to the development, debugging, testing and operation of APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-based services.

  • You are self-driven, prioritize effectively, and focus on impact.

  • You communicate clearly in written and verbal form.

  • Your co-workers think of you as someone who is kind and does excellent work.

What you possess:

  • You are skilled in object-oriented programming and take pride in crafting efficient, maintainable and testable code. You have a solid foundation in computer science and software development concepts.

  • Proficient with gRPC, GraphQL, or RESTful API design and implementation.

  • Strong knowledge of Java and Python or any other OO programming language with a solid understanding of OO design principles, concurrency, multi-threading, performance tuning, and observability.

  • Strong knowledge of Relational Databases and experience with MySQL / Oracle / PostgreSQL.

  • You have experience with GenAI and AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate your workflow, and you apply sound judgment in validating AI outputs and learning new AI capabilities.

  • You are familiar with testing frameworks and tools and have experience shipping highquality, welltested code.

  • Familiarity with Front-end skills to develop internal and external UI Portals with Javascript/Typescript using React or similar framework

  • Thorough knowledge of Software Development Life cycle and QA processes.

  • Good understanding of the finance domain space including but not limited to revenue, payments, tax etc.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with business partners, functional solution architects, fellow engineers and stakeholders on the projects.

  • Clear and concise communication skills to disseminate information about your work, design, and tradeoff decisions, both in writing and verbally.

  • Demonstrable commitment and achievement skills to exceed expectations and serve multiple partners while delivering an outstanding experience.

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $250,000.00 - $413,000.00. This compensation range will vary based on location.
