Overview

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) established the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) in 1991 to address the most common causes of death, disability and impaired quality of life in postmenopausal women.

The Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) is one of the largest and most comprehensive studies of women’s health and is at the forefront in women’s health research.  WHI study results have been published in top medical journals and have had a significant impact on women’s health.  The WHI is designed to investigate strategies for the prevention and control of some of the most common causes of morbidity and mortality among postmenopausal women, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporotic fractures.

The WHI Clinical Coordinating Center (CCC), located at Fred Hutchinson, is responsible for study implementation and coordination of statistical, epidemiologic, nutritional and clinical aspects of the WHI and is responsible for data collection, management and analysis. In addition to the WHI CCC, NIH has recently launched a program for a new coordinating center (MOSAAIC CC) and Fred Hutch has been chosen to coordinate this national effort. The objective is to provide scientific, statistical, and cultural expertise and coordination support to establish a population-based cohort focusing on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders, studying health conditions and disease burden that are unique and common for this population.

WHI and MOSAAIC at Fred Hutch is seeking a software developer to join its Database and Applications Unit.  This Unit supports the core WHI and MOSAAIC studies as well as dozens of ancillary studies. Our mission is to collect and maintain the highest quality data in support of this important research, from application design through the delivery of analytic data sets.  Salary is  commensurate with experience.
