AWS Building Connectivity Service Automation (CSA) provide the services that empower the global AWS network. We are focused on providing DHCP and DNS for users and systems to access their information and applications regardless of where they are in the world. CSA is responsible for building and designing services that work in one of the world's most complex computer networks.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will work hand-in-hand with Software Development and Network Engineering teams to drive stability, consistency, and sustainability of the network while never losing sight of the high security bar our customer's demand. You'll apply your large-scale understanding of computing solutions to write code and manage services that delight our customers.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Key job responsibilities

You will be responsible for the design, implementation and quality of services you deliver. Your experience working in a systems development or in an enterprise environment will help us implement automated solutions across a variety of applications and systems.

You'll also:

- Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.

- Write high quality distributed system software.

- Work in an agile, startup-like development environment, where you are always working on the most important stuff.

- Work closely with our Network/Systems/Software Engineering teams to ensure fast and smooth roll-out of new designs and products, as well as assist with deployment and sustaining of networking software tools.

- Use data to measure success and take responsibility for the quality of your service and, regardless of their source, strive to prevent faults from impacting your customers.

- Use your strong problem-solving skills, ability to understand and scope solutions, work across teams to drive solutions.

- Contribute to documentation of process and procedures.

- Learn from others and help grow those in your -team to achieve their best.

- Take ownership, consider tradeoffs and lean on your expertise to ensure the job gets done.

- Participate in an on-call rotation with your team.

A day in the life

CSA engineers have a wide range of responsibilities; we work with internal partners to develop and implement the next-generation platforms along with the tooling ecosystems to support these platforms driving efficiency and scalability through the automation of builds, configuration deployment, and the scaling of capacity. As our network is one of the largest in the world, there is no blueprint allowing our engineers to develop solutions to complex challenges that we face daily. About the team

The Building Connectivity Service Automation (CSA) team within Amazon Web Services builds and operates the software systems that automate critical enterprise networking and corporate infrastructure services at global scale. Our engineers design, develop, and maintain applications and infrastructure that enable reliable internal connectivity across Amazon's worldwide offices and data centers. We solve complex problems at the intersection of automation, networking, and distributed systems - delivering high-availability solutions that hundreds of thousands of internal customers depend on daily.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience

- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience

- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience

- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
