Full Job Description
This is your chance to be a key driver of LMI's GoPxL product platform. GoPxL is the next-generation platform behind the 3D sensors that are the "eyes" of industrial automation, and we have just built its core architecture. You'll be building new features, influencing backend architecture, optimizing performance, and ensuring smooth UX experiences and SDK integrations. This is an ideal time to join, as your work will directly influence the final product. If you are a developer who gets satisfaction from carefully architecting new features while also refining, polishing, and shipping rock-solid code, and who wants to help steer a product's direction, this is the role for you.
What You'll Do

As a Software Developer II you will:
  • Write high-quality, modern C++ to build new, cutting-edge features for our sensor platform.
  • Take full ownership of driving assigned features and epics from concept to deployment. Deliver cutting-edge capabilities on our new codebase while proactively refactoring logic, optimizing memory and performance, and standardizing interfaces for long-term scalability.
  • Collaborate directly with Product Management to break down ambiguous requirements into actionable technical user stories. Help refine team Agile (Jira) processes, mentor junior developers, and ensure engineering trade-offs prioritize real end-customer value.
  • Dive deep into complex problems involving concurrency, memory management, and low-level hardware-software interfaces in both Windows and Linux embedded environments.
  • Use AI tools and personal initiative to step "+1" outside the core backend application boundary. Proactively explore and collaborate across adjacent domains - working with Front-End (UI/UX) developers, Vision Engineers, and QA automation teams to ensure seamless full-stack integration and end-to-end feature delivery.
  • Write robust, fault-tolerant C++ designed for 24/7 factory automation. Implement defensive coding practices, conduct memory safety analyses, maintain GoogleTest unit tests, and actively lead peer code reviews.
  • Bring your ideas to the table. We are a team of ~20 professionals, and your voice will be critical in shaping the technical roadmap and product evolution.
Education and Qualifications (The Must-Haves)
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a heavy focus on C++ application development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong, hands-on proficiency in modern C++, including the STL, OOP, and data structures.
  • A solid understanding of multi-threaded, concurrent systems. You must be comfortable working with and debugging race conditions, mutexes, and asynchronous logic.
  • You don't have to be a pure firmware dev, but you must be comfortable at the hardware-software interface. Experience with TCP/UDP socket programming is essential.
  • Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD development environments, and unit-testing frameworks (e.g. GoogleTest).
  • Excellent proficiency in English (both written and verbal) and strong collaboration skills, and able to converse skillfully with AI agents.

What Sets You Apart (The Desirables)
  • A "product-first" mindset and a passion for craftsmanship.
  • Familiarity with 3D imaging, machine vision, or robotics.
  • Experience with embedded Linux or RTOS environments.
  • Experience with C# or Python for tools and testing.
  • Interest or experience in using AI tools (e.g. Claude, Gemini, Copilot) as a force multiplier - coupled with the strong technical fundamentals required to steer AI to craft production-grade deliverables as efficiently as possible.

Salary Range: $93,000 CAD to $139,000 + Eligibility for Profit Sharing Program Participation (pending successful completion of probationary period and based on business performance)

Perks and Benefits

  • Growth & Development: An annual Education Support Program for training and professional growth, plus annual performance reviews.
  • Enjoy free snacks and drinks, team-building events, tenure awards, and our official "May the 4th" (Star Wars Day) company holiday!
  • Access to an on-site fitness facility, tennis/basketball court, and company-wide wellness initiatives
  • This is a hybrid position based out of our Burnaby, BC headquarters. To support our collaborative model, preference will be given to local candidates that are able to work in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
