The Software Developer II will play an active role in designing and developing Entrust Issuance solutions that support secure, scalable digital identity experiences. This role uses Java, Spring, React, and modern web technologies aligned with current industry security standards. The qualified candidate will work with minimal supervision, apply sound technical judgment, and collaborate across teams to deliver reliable, high-quality software.
Responsibilities: Application Development:- Design, develop, test, debug, deploy, and maintain high-performing, secure applications and services using Java, Spring, and React.
- Build secure products and deploy software solutions that enhance user experiences.
- Apply secure development life cycle practices, threat modelling, and web application security assessment techniques.
- Participate in system architecture, optimization of existing systems, code reviews, requirements definition, and documentation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues by identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Apply Agile (Scrum) methodology to track progress and support consistent project standards.
- Contribute to team planning and estimation by defining task breakdowns, timelines, and effort requirements.
- Develop and maintain automation and CI/CD environments.
- Work independently on project assignments with minimal supervision.
- Exhibit a process-oriented mindset.
- Collaborate with colleagues and share skills with other Entrust teams.
Basic Qualifications, Skills & Experience:- Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or an equivalent technology discipline.
- 3+ years of relevant software development experience creating business applications.
- 3+ years of Java and Spring development experience, preferably using JDK 21 or later.
- 2+ years of experience with React and RESTful web services.
- 2+ year of experience building SaaS products, preferably on AWS.
- Hands-on experience with VS Code, IntelliJ, Jira, and/or similar tools.
- Background developing multi-threaded applications.
- Exposure to AI tools and Copilot-based development workflows.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Experience tuning application performance.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills & Experience: - Spring Boot and Spring Security experience.
- Familiarity with AWS Lambda functions, ECS, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, JPA, and Linux.
- Experience with SSO and SAML 2.0.
- Experience working in an SDLC environment.
- Understanding of business objects, layered design, data access objects, and design patterns.
- Knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and SQL languages.
- Understanding of software security concepts, including cryptography and obfuscation.
- Experience developing commercial or external software products.
- Smartcard technology experience.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and related tools.
Future Projects & Key Initiatives: - Help the development team evolve the architecture and technology stack of our cloud solution to support vertical and horizontal scalability.
- Identify opportunities to drive innovation, accelerate product launches, and remove bottlenecks to deliver results faster.
- Make meaningful contributions by helping the team design and develop solutions aligned with the product vision while staying current with industry trends and technologies.
Work Location: This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in-office at our headquarters in Shakopee, MN. At Entrust, we have a distributed workforce.
Compensation Range:
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $100,781-$147,813 per year (in the primary posting location). Actual compensation will be determined based on geographic location, education, skills and experience. This position is also eligible for the company's discretionary annual incentive plan.
