Your Impact As an Embedded Systems Software Developer I, you will design, develop, and deliver high-quality software features that power Cisco's world-class networking platforms and connected infrastructure. You will work within collaborative, agile engineering teams to solve critical technical challenges, build reliable system-level components, and ensure the continuous performance of our products. Participate actively across the full development lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional partners to refine requirements, implement clean solutions, and automate quality validation. Success in this full-time role means growing your technical breadth, taking ownership of key deliverables, and creating meaningful impact for customers relying on Cisco's mission-critical technology.
Minimum Qualifications- Meet one of the following (completed within the past 3 years or expected to be completed within the next 12 months): -A Bachelor's degree with 0 years of work experience;
-An educational or workforce development program (e.g., Associate's, Apprenticeship, Boot camp, or Certification)
with 1 year of work experience; or
-High school diploma (or equivalent)
with 2 years of work experience. - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in C or C++ programming, with strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or procedural systems design.
- Solid grounding in operating systems fundamentals (processes, threads, memory management, synchronization) and core networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching).
- Hands-on experience developing in Linux/Unix environments using command-line developer tools, GDB debugging, and Git version control.
Preferred Qualifications - Prior co-op, internship, or project experience working with Embedded Linux, POSIX APIs, RTOS, or microcontroller platforms.
- Familiarity with network protocol implementations (such as BGP, OSPF, VLANs, ARP) and network diagnostic tools (Wireshark).
