We9re searching for our next Social Media Lead to support a federal government client account, working closely with our internal team and the client9s communications staff. This is a hybrid role requiring the ability to travel onsite to the client9s office in the D.C. metro area up to two days per week.
The Team
We are a team of digital media communications strategists and specialists working together to provide our clients with social media management, content writing, social listening, metrics reporting, digital engagement strategies, and training.
Job Location(s): This is a hybrid role. As key personnel on a federal client account, this position requires the ability to travel onsite to the client9s office in Rockville, MD up to two days per week, with availability during core business hours (9am - 5pm ET) and on short notice for urgent client matters.
As a Social Media Lead, you will:
- Serve as the client9s lead social media expert, supporting monitoring, executing, filtering, and measuring the client9s social media presence
- Develop strategies and guidance to enhance the client9s presence and engagement with its audience on social media channels
- Own the client9s day-to-day social media presence, from strategy through execution, serving as the client9s lead social media expert
- Plan and lead social media campaigns tied to national observances and key events
- Develop and publish engaging, on-brand content across platforms in compliance with plain language and accessibility standards
- Lead real-time social media event coverage, such as Twitter chats and Facebook Live
- Monitor performance and social listening data, translating results into actionable recommendations for client and leadership review
- Partner directly with client communications staff and leadership to guide social media strategy and brand presence
- Plan and lead social media events, such as Facebook Live, Live-Tweeting, and Twitter chats, including strategy, graphics support, and day-of coordination
- Manage analytics for the client9s program, track and report performance data, and provide recommendations for improvement
- Monitor social media channels and develop social listening reports analyzing conversations, trends, and sentiment across platforms
- Build and maintain social media dashboards, and prepare monthly performance summaries (via PowerPoint) with recommendations for client and leadership review
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, and adapt quickly to changing priorities and tasks on a day-to-day basis
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor9s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience creating social media strategy and developing and managing social media presence for a federal government client
- 5 + years of experience creating and maintaining a federal agency9s brand identity and public health education campaigns across multiple social media platforms
Preferred qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with social media platform management, content development, analytics, and listening tools
- Experience working with government agencies to build social media communications plans
- Experience presenting social media strategy and performance to senior leadership or client stakeholders
Professional skills:
- Demonstrated experience integrating creative, data/analytics, and/or other client services teams to develop fully integrated, insight-driven campaigns
- Experience developing social media and communications plans and presenting to leadership teams
- Detail oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities
- Strong writing skills
- Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Microsoft Word
- Comfortable collaborating across internal and client teams
- Ability to work independently, seek help as needed and contribute to team and company culture

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$74,090.00 - $125,954.00
