Blackstone are seeking a Chief Data Officer (CDO) who will own and lead the firm’s global data strategy and operating model; setting the vision, policies, and organizational structure to leverage data as an asset to help the firm make better investment decisions and operate more effectively. The CDO will be accountable for establishing a globally consistent, locally empowered data governance framework that embeds data stewardship across all business lines and corporate functions. The CDO will lead a central enterprise data function and oversee a network of embedded data stewards within business, regional, and functional teams.
Responsibilities:
GLOBAL DATA STRATEGY & OPERATING MODEL
Define, own, and execute the firm’s global data strategy to leverage data as an asset to make better investment decisions and operate the firm more effectively.
Design and implement a global hub-and-spoke data operating model, with a central governance function providing oversight, standards, and coordination, and embedded data stewards within business and corporate groups managing data quality and production.
Establish clear data ownership and accountability structures, with defined roles for data owners, data stewards, and governance councils.
Lead the implementation of an enterprise-wide data management framework, ensuring consistent processes for data collection, maintenance, and usage across jurisdictions.
Partner with global and regional leadership to embed data governance practices into business operations and decision-making processes
DATA GOVERNANCE & STEWARDSHIP
Define and maintain global data taxonomies, dictionaries, and metadata standards to drive consistency and interoperability across regions and systems.
Oversee the global network of data stewards, ensuring they have the authority, tools, and support needed to maintain data quality and integrity in their respective areas.
Work in alignment with the Engineering organization to ensure that governance requirements, data flows, lineage, and quality rules are embedded into the firm’s data platforms and architectures. DATA QUALITY, LINEAGE & CONTROLS
Develop and oversee global data quality standards, KPIs, and dashboards to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
Ensure full data lineage and traceability for critical data elements across systems, from source to report.
Partner with operational and technology risk teams to ensure effective data control environments across all business and regulatory reporting processes.
LEADERSHIP & COLLABORATION
Serve as the global authority on data governance, advising executive leadership and the board on data strategy, risks, and opportunities.
Promote a global culture of data accountability, literacy, and transparency, ensuring all employees understand their role in maintaining data integrity.
Represent the firm externally with industry working groups, and data governance organizations to influence best practices and benchmark maturity.
Define and maintain global data taxonomies, dictionaries, and metadata standards to drive consistency and interoperability across regions and systems.

Qualifications:
15+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or information strategy, with at least 5 years in a global leadership role within financial services, asset management, or private equity.
Demonstrated success in designing and implementing enterprise data operating models and governance frameworks across multiple regions and business lines.
Proven ability to influence senior business and technology stakeholders to drive alignment and adoption of enterprise data policies.
Experience leading cross-functional and cross-regional teams in a matrixed global environment.

Expected annual base salary range:
$300,000 - $350,000Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation and benefits offered in connection with the roleconsist of comprehensive health benefits, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, and FSA benefits; paid time off; life insurance; 401(k) plan; and discretionary bonuses. Certain employees may also be eligible for equity and other incentive compensation at Blackstone’s sole discretion.
