OverviewManage the success and profitability of small business within the region and supervise the activities of the Small Business Underwriters responsible for small business production. Manage the AMS Assistants in the region, where applicable, to assure they are appropriately assisting all AMSs in the region. Provide continuous training, coaching, and feedback to the small business underwriters and AMS assistants. Create business partnerships with inside underwriting teams, AMSs and Small Business Corporate staff. Develops strong agency relationships and presence within the region through agency visits and regular contact with key agency staff. Works in conjunction with the Field Operations Manager to set small business regional financial goals and assist in development of agency, marketing and corporate strategies related to small business.
Responsibilities- Promotes the development and production of profitable business through the supervision, training, coaching, and monitoring of small business activities and goals.
- Monitors adherence to company underwriting guidelines and provides feedback and guidance to Small Business Underwriters/Agents.
- Works closely with the field operations manager and territory managers in setting and achieving small business budgeted regional financial goals.
- Establishes procedures and controls to ensure accomplishment of service standards for the Small Business team..
- Oversees activities, workflows, and productivity to ensure compliance with company, consumer and technical standards.
- Promotes the use of technology with our agents to improve overall efficiency, productivity and service both internally and externally.
- Works with regional management in preparing and participating in the AMS conference, producer council meetings and regional sales meetings to promote Small Business strategies
- Monitors all small business communications to agents and follows up with Territory Managers and AMSs on the marketing effort and effectiveness of our communication.
- Responsible for automobile travel to agent offices. Must be able to drive an automobile to travel within territory. Car travel represents approximately 20% of employee's time.

- Ability to motivate, lead and develop Small Business Underwriters.
- Must have valid state-issued driver's license in good standing and be able to drive an automobile.
Education and Experience- College degree with 6 years Underwriting, Agency Management, Marketing, or Field Underwriting experience.
- The following experience is preferred; 3 years Supervisory, 1 year Loss Control, and 1 year Claims.
