Description

TRISTAR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the U.S. Navy's AN/SLQ-32(V)7 Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP) at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane. The selected candidate will provide mechanical engineering support for the design, development, documentation, integration, installation, and lifecycle sustainment of shipboard Electronic Warfare systems. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining technical data packages, creating and updating installation control drawings, validating engineering models, supporting engineering investigations, and ensuring system designs meet Navy requirements. Candidates should possess strong CAD modeling experience and be capable of working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment supporting fleet modernization and sustainment efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, update, and maintain mechanical designs, engineering drawings, and technical data packages for AN/SLQ-32(V)7 hardware and supporting equipment.
  • Create and revise Installation Control Drawings (ICDs), assembly drawings, detail drawings, and shipboard installation packages.
  • Generate and validate 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering documentation using industry-standard mechanical design tools.
  • Review mechanical designs for accuracy, manufacturability, maintainability, and compliance with program requirements.
  • Support Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Technical Data Package (TDP) updates, and configuration management activities.
  • Verify model dimensions and drawing requirements against engineering standards and released documentation.
  • Convert and migrate engineering drawings and models between CAD platforms while maintaining configuration control.
  • Support design reviews, technical interchange meetings, working groups, and engineering assessments.
  • Conduct engineering investigations and root-cause analyses related to hardware performance, installation issues, and fleet-reported deficiencies.
  • Develop technical reports, engineering analyses, recommendations, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with electrical, systems, logistics, manufacturing, and government engineering personnel throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Assist with shipboard integration activities, modernization efforts, and product improvements supporting fleet readiness.


Requirements

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of mechanical engineering experience supporting DoD, aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or complex technical systems.
  • Experience developing engineering drawings, mechanical assemblies, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with one or more CAD platforms, including: Siemens NX, Creo Parametric, Solid Edge, and AutoCAD
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications, mechanical drawings, and technical standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
