Site Safety Health Officer Location: Grand Forks Air Force Base, ND
We are seeking a
Site Safety Health Officer to join our team at Grand Forks Air Force Base, ND. Ideal candidates are willing to travel, independent thinkers, self-motivated, communicate proactively, enjoy collaborating within and beyond the project team.
Principle areas of responsibility are:- Develop and initiate policies and procedures ensuring safety/health measures are implemented and maintained
- Prepare and conduct training programs related to OSHA, and DoD regulations.
- Read and comprehend risk management related information and assist departments in applying that information in reducing safety liability.
- Review and analyze all non-reportable vehicle accidents, near-accidents, first report of injuries and supervisor's accident investigation reports; follow up with injured employees and work with departments to help employees return to work as soon as possible; meet with department safety representatives and supervisors to analyze problem areas and determine corrective actions that will reduce high frequency accidents.
- Attend safety meetings and present various project-related saafety topics; and implement needed safety/health and risk prevention training.
- Ensure buildings, facilities and operations are inspected to identify and minimize safety/health risk exposures; work with unit representatives to plan, develop, and implement safety and loss prevention programs.
- Conduct worksite inspections and training to ensure proper environmental work practices are followed
- Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with policies related to UOSHA, OSHA, and DoD regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Industrial Safety and Health, Safety Engineering, Safety Management or a closely related field desired.
- Two years of progressively responsible risk management or safety -related experience preferable in military environment or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Knowledge and experience with the EM 385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements Manual
- Certifications in safety and/or risk management such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate of Risk Management (ARM) preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
Salary Base:This full-time position as a SSHO has an hourly range of $55.00-$75.00. The actual hourly rate is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
