Job PurposeAs the
Site Quality Director at VulcanForms, your mission is to build and lead the Quality organization for a new, advanced manufacturing facility focused on mass-production, 3D-printed titanium components for a high-volume consumer electronics program. You will own the facility's Quality Management System (QMS) and ensures production quality, metrology, metallurgical testing, and new product qualification activities consistently meet rigorous customer and business requirements.
Operating within a fast-paced Business Unit (BU) model, you will directly govern the site's execution, inspection, and lab infrastructure - rapidly scaling the organization to support maximum facility footprint and full mass-production capacity. You will partner closely with operations, manufacturing engineering, and the corporate Quality Engineering (QE) business unit to support production, drive continuous improvement, and establish scalable quality systems for long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities- Build and lead the site Quality organization across a 24/7 continuous manufacturing environment, managing and mentoring a rapidly growing execution team (QC, metrology, metallurgical testing, and sustaining quality) as the facility ramps to full production capacity.
- Establish, deploy, and maintain an effective and scalable site Quality Management System (QMS) that balances rigorous technical standards with high-volume production throughput.
- Ensure stable production quality performance on the shop floor with a relentless focus on defect reduction, robust root cause analysis, and maximum customer satisfaction.
- Lead the qualification of new products for the consumer electronics program, managing technical strategy for advanced inspection development, CMM programming, GR&R studies, and process capability analysis.
- Develop and oversee robust metrology and specialized metallurgical testing capabilities tailored to evaluate the structural and cosmetic integrity of complex titanium components.
- Implement and govern data-driven quality metrics, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and automated factory reporting systems to proactively monitor process performance, yield, and scrap.
- Support customer audits, technical reviews, and rapid quality issue resolution; serve as a critical matrix partner to the product QE organization to seamlessly bridge the gap between product engineering and site operations.
- Drive a site-wide culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence to meet aggressive commercial launch timelines.
Qualifications- 10+ years of progressive manufacturing quality experience, with a proven track record in high-volume manufacturing (Consumer Electronics, Automotive, or similar high-rate industries) working with complex metal components.
- 5+ years of formal senior management experience building and leading multi-disciplinary quality control, inspection, or laboratory teams through rapid plant expansions.
- Deep expertise in product qualification frameworks, including automated CMM workflows, GR&R studies, capability analysis, and advanced GD&T.
- Strong working knowledge of physical metallurgy, destructive/non-destructive testing (NDT), and laboratory practices, specifically working with high-performance metals like titanium.
- Demonstrated ability to manage site operations and lead large teams effectively within a matrixed or Business Unit organizational model, aligning execution with engineering teams reporting into alternate structures.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Preferred Qualifications- Direct experience building and scaling large factory quality organizations undergoing rapid volume expansion, ideally involving metal additive manufacturing (3D printing) or advanced precision surface finishing.
- Certified Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt with a documented history of driving large-scale continuous improvement projects in short-cycle consumer programs.
